What to wear - top tips
The biggest question I’m always asked is what do we wear for our photos!!
My number one - try not to carry “stuff” with you, take hair ties off wrists, leave sunnies in the car and nothing visible in pockets. I can hold your keys (and phones) if needed but I want you to be having fun and not worrying about bulging pockets or slipping hems/necklines. Sometimes the best images are the in-between moments and you don’t want to be loaded up with bags and things you don’t need. We are never too far from the car!
A few more tips:
Dress yourself first. Make sure you’ll be comfortable, feel and look amazing. No visible straps or underwear lines etc.
Then your choose for your partner and other family members. Look to compliment, but not match too much unless that’s the look you want!
My best advice is to pick a lead colour, a variation of that colour, a complementary or opposite colour, and some neutrals to balance. A subtle print in complimentary colours and some texture always photographs beautifully.
Colour is not your enemy - Sometimes full neutral palettes are hard to get right! If you know you look and feel great in a certain colour - embrace it!
If you do neutrals, make it tonal and use texture or pattern to break it up.
Linen or silk, knits for texture, floaty bottoms, fitted tops, maxi dresses, cute buttons, rolled up hems.
Make sure everyone will be warm – layers are great because sometimes when the sun drops so does the temp! And cold people are not happy people.
An easy tip – if you are wearing a light top and a dark bottom, reverse that for your little one.
